While in Colombo, the team met with multiple agencies and organizations to discuss the purposes of the ADAPT-SL project. Institutions contacted included the National Building Research Organization (NBRO), International Water Management Institute (IWMI), Hector Kobbekaduwa Agrarian Research and Training Institute (HARTI), local universitites, and others.

After visiting Colombo, the group traveled to the ancient city of Kandy. During our visit here we held meetings with local officials to discuss the nature and implementation of the project. In addition to these meetings, the group was able to travel around the city and observe many important cultural sites including the Golden Temple and Caves of Dambulla, Sigiriya, The Temple of The Sacred Tooth, and an elephant orphanage.

Farming Visits

Outside of Kandy, some members of the group traveled to paddy farms to interact with farmers and villagers. Ashley and Steven were able to meet with a group of individuals (pictured above) consisting of a Grama Niladhari (similar to a town mayor), two Farmer Agency Heads, an Agrarian Services Officer, and other community members. During our visit we learned valuable information about local farming practices and were given tours of the farms.
